COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT & CERTIFICATION

Competency is the state of possessing the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours necessary to perform a task successfully and consistently, in accordance with defined assessment standards and the organisation’s values, policies, and procedures.

•  Competencies are task- or activity-based. For each task, the required knowledge, skills, and behaviours are assessed against defined assessment standards. A candidate is deemed competent for a job role only after successfully demonstrating competence in all tasks that comprise the role.
• Competency is not merely about completing a task successfully; it is also about executing the task in full alignment with the organisation’s standards, values, policies, and procedures.

Competency assessment is the process of collecting and evaluating evidence to determine whether a person is competent against assessment standards. A competency assessment must always be conducted by a certified Competence Assessor to ensure it is Valid, Authentic, Reliable, Current, and Sufficient and its compliance with organisational requirements. In a competency assessment, everyone performing the same job is measured using the same assessment criteria and methodology, ensuring consistency, transparency, fairness and objective evaluation across the organisation

• Competency Assessment and certification to be performed only by Assessors certified by any of the international accreditation bodies
• Competency assessment systems use customized Assessment standards developed for the specific task/competence element
• Assessment standards will identify the knowledge details, skills to be tested and behaviours to be observed during the performance of a task as part of the assessment
