FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

About the Program

A strong institution is built on the strength of its faculty.

This FDP empowers educators to become competent, confident, and future-ready professionals, capable of delivering excellence in engineering education.

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) is a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance the teaching, advanced technical, and professional competencies of faculty members in engineering colleges.

This program equips educators with modern pedagogical skills, industry-relevant knowledge, and research capabilities to meet the evolving demands of technical education.

Introduction

This Faculty Development Program (FDP) is designed to build the capabilities of engineering college faculty members who are new to the teaching profession, enabling them to plan, design, and deliver teaching sessions more effectively and confidently. A strong foundation in the industrial applications of engineering principles, combined with excellent pedagogical skills, will significantly enhance a lecturer’s effectiveness in the classroom.

This four-week program comprises discipline-specific modules on industrial applications of engineering, complemented by industrial visits, a Train-the-Trainer program, and modules focused on developing effective communication and presentation skills.

Recognizing the importance of healthy and constructive relationships between faculty and students, the Train-the-Trainer component of the program emphasizes the development of essential competencies such as relationship building, communication, effective assessment methods, motivation and counseling techniques, coaching and mentoring skills, as well as team building and collaborative working.

These competencies are particularly vital for educators in the current generation of higher education.

    Program Objectives

Following are the expected learning outcomes of the FDP:

    • Enhance teaching effectiveness and classroom delivery
    • Align education with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) frameworks
    • Enhance technical knowledge and gain industry exposure
    • Improve student engagement and learning effectiveness
    • Learn how to integrate emerging technologies (AI, IoT, Data Analytics) into teaching
    • Develop skills to guide students in practical and project-based learning
    • Familiarize with engineering terminologies used in industries across various branches
    • Understand industry job roles and required competencies for different engineering disciplines
    • Enhance communication and presentation skills
    • Build leadership and teamwork capabilities
    • Strengthen mentoring and student interaction

    Key Benefits to Institutions
